Functions of Upazila Parishad

 

 

Function of Upazila Parished:

Upazila Parished act According to the second schedule of 1998,the function of the Upazila Parished are as follow:

 

  • To make 5 year and various term development plans.
  • To implement the programs of various government department handed over to the council and to supervise and coordinate the activities of those department.
  • Construction, repair and maintenance of enter Union Connecting roads.
  • Adoption and implementation of small scale irrigation projects in the Upazila Parished as per the direction of the Government to ensure optimal use of  surface water resource.
  • Ensure public health nutrition and family planning survives.
  • Improving sanitation and sewerage system and taking measures for supply of drinking water.
  • Providing motivation and support for the expansion of education at the Upazila level.
  • Assist them in overseeing the activities of the concerned institution for improving the quality of secondary education and madrasa education programs.
  • Co operating societies and Non Governmental voluntary organizations to provide assistance and coordinate their work.
  • Undertake and implement activities for the development of women, children social welfare and forest resources.
  • Undertake and implement activities for the development of agro livestock, fisheries and forest resources.
  • Discuss the activities of the police department including the improvement of low and order situation in the Upazila and send regular reports to the higher authorities.
  •  
  • Coordinating and testing the development activities of the Union Parished and providing necessary assistance.
  • Taking and other preventing measures including creating public opinion against crimes like violence against women and children.
  • Taking other preventive measures against Terrorism, Theft, Robbery, Smuggling, Drug E.t.c.
  • Undertake other activities including social forestry for the protection and development of the environmental.
  • All matters relating to Upazila Parished funds.
  • Concerning granting of power to spend  out of council.
  • Proposal to impose tax rate tools and fees.
  • Audit of expenditure of Upazila Parished.
  • Processing of various agreements for implementation of work by the council.
  • Formation of various committees and sub committees.
  • Review of relief and rehabilitation work in Upazila.
  • Other functions assigned by the Government from time to time.
  • Other functions provided by the government from time to time.
